Objectives and Services

Partnership Health Canterbury’s Objectives

  1. Work together, in partnership, with those having a common interest, the Canterbury District Health Board and Primary Care Organisations, including IPAs, NGOs, and others to enhance and improve the delivery of well co-ordinated primary health care to people, their families and our communities.
  2. Promote good health and well-being within our communities.
  3. Set priorities, in collaboration with the Canterbury District Health Board.
  4. Support good decision-making by striving to understand the health needs of the communities we serve through the collection, collation, analysis and sharing of data and knowledge.
  5. Communicate with and be informed by the communities we serve.
  6. Be a responsible, transparent and publicly accountable PHO.
  7. Work as a constructive and forward-looking partnership of broad interests, with representation from the communities we serve and the providers we work with, acknowledging the special partnership through the Treaty of Waitangi.

Partnership Health Canterbury’s four core services:

  • First level services – delivering what is needed via general  practices and other health centres
  • Health promotion – reducing the level of preventable illness
