Rural Health Services

Partnership Health works closely with the Rural Canterbury PHO, which oversees primary care services for most of the people living in the Canterbury countryside.

Together, we support rural GP teams by articulating their needs and finding ways to provide services to their communities. We have been grateful this year to the rural GPs who have helped us in the ongoing revisions of the proposed national rural funding policy.

With the Selwyn district having a growing population base, Partnership Health works with the Selwyn District Council on its Wellness Plan, and also with support groups within the Selwyn community, including those for older people. We continue to advocate for rural services and, in this coming year, hope to see the long-awaited building of a medical centre on the Darfield Hospital site.

It's been great to work with the Selwyn District Council, Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) and the community to see this realised.
