Why Enrol in a PHO?

There are many reasons to enrol in a PHO. Enrolment costs nothing and benefits you, your family/whanau/fono and your community.

All PHO members, regardless of age, pay less to visit a doctor and pay only $3 each for prescription medicines. The cheaper services help everyone: patients, parents and caregivers.

Partnership Health Canterbury Te Kei o Te Waka also offers programmes like Active Families, CarePlus, Frail Elderly, End-of-Life Services, Services to Improve Access, Chronic Care, Diabetes Get Well Checks, Chronic Disease Management, Youth Sexual Health, Quit Smoking and Child Health Services; all designed to benefit your entire family/whanau/fono.

Enrolled patients who do not have English as a first language also have access to free interpretation services through their general practice team.

Enrolment in a PHO encourages you to develop a strong relationship with your general practice team. People who have an ongoing relationship with their family doctor team tend to get diagnosed more quickly and spend less time in hospital.
