Everyone benefits from proper nutrition. Eating well in old age is dependent on many factors, including the motivation and ability to prepare and cook healthy and nutritious foods. Many older people in our community live alone and find preparing meals for themselves difficult, particularly if they have been used to cooking for a large family or have never cooked at all. | | Until now, nutritional information for older people has not been readily available, but this book can be a valuable helping hand for making delicious, healthy meals. This recipe book was compiled by Sally Watson, Project Dietitian, Older Persons Health Service, Canterbury District Health Board with funding from the Ministry of Health and Partnership Health Canterbury. This recipe book is for community-living older people who are at risk of poor nutrition, particularly those who live alone and find cooking for themselves difficult. The recipes use readily available ingredients and are quick and easy to prepare as well as nutritious and delicious.
