What is a PHO?

August 25, 2006 16:08

Primary Health Organisations, or PHOs, provide health care through general practice teams and other community providers. Partnership Health Canterbury Te Kei o Te Waka is a PHO that involves more than 100 General Practices, covering most of Christchurch, and all of Lyttelton and the Selwyn District.

Our PHO’s function is to promote health, reduce the cost of care, and help to set the direction for the development of primary health care for our enrolled population.

When your doctor decided to join this PHO, you became an ‘enrolled PHO patient’. Visit your general practice team regularly to remain eligible for your PHO benefits.
