Taua Ruahine 
Ruahine Crofts Ruahine has spent many years as a teacher, tutor and advisor of Maori culture within the health context. The high regard in which she is held resulted in her being awarded the King Ihaka Award for cultural services to the community and iwi after being nominated by Ngai Tahu in 1994. She is the Taua at Hilllmorton Hospital, Taua at the Te Korowai Atawhai Maori mental health unit and Taua for the Canterbury District Heath Board. She was a foundation member of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu and is currently a member of Mana Whenua Ki Waitaha, the Ngai Tahu Maori Health Group. She spent almost ten years as the manager of the Bicultural Development at Kingslea Residential Centre.
